Seriously, I don’t know who created the group, and I don’t care. I found out about this group over on the Salty Droid blog.
Whoever created the group, is definitely worthy of a Douchebag Award.
I’m a firm believer in the “innocent until proven guilty” aspect of American justice. I’m also a firm believer in the principle that if people come to an event that you put on, you as the organizer are ultimately responsible for whatever happens at your event. Specially while the event is running.
In my opinion, James Death Ray is responsible for the deaths of 3 people during his “Spiritual Warrior” event in Sedona, Arizona. Actually, I’m not the only one who thinks so, since Death Ray himself has admitted his responsibility.
Death Ray has already won himself an award, so this one goes to whichever one of his followers created the fan page. I won’t go into the semantics of how a man that made a living teaching people about creating harmonic wealth etc. not being liquid enough to come up with $500,000 in bail money. I also won’t address whether that amount of bail is fair or not.
The one thing that I do know is unfair, is that 3 people died at this event. Now their families have to live with the loss and try to understand what happened.
This is the part that really gets my goad. The people that went to James Ray’s events, were supposed to attain enlightenment and harmonic wealth and some other New Wagey kind of words.
What does an enlightened and harmonically balanced person do in the face of 3 deaths?
Do they:
- Rally to support the families of the victims of the tragedy?
- Decide to withhold final judgment on James Ray’s guilt or innocence until after the trial?
- Try to examine themselves and their motives for supporting a person that now stands accused of unintentional homicide?
- Try to figure out if they really needed to follow the teachings of a fake shaman?
None of the above.
The best thing to do is to rally around the naked emperor and try to “manifest” a lower bail that the naked emperor, plastic shaman, manslaughterer can afford to pay by creating a facebook fan page and writing letters to the judge.
How delusional do you have to be to:
- Still believe in James Death Ray?
- Think that creating a facebook fan page will change the mind of the legal system of the State of Arizona?
- Join a James Death Ray facebook fan page?
Actually, I can answer #3.
None other than previous Douchebag marketer award winner David Schirmer is among the members of the group.
I guess he smells a leadership void and plans to step in and fill it while Death Ray is in jail. I wouldn’t be surprised if Schirmer comes out with a “Harmonically balanced” frauduct of some kind.
After all, you gotta strike while the iron is hot.
Doesn’t that just warm the cockles of your heart?
Anyway, whoever created the “Support James Ray” Facebook fan page, wins a Douchebag Award.
